Structured around six comprehensive modules, the programme progressively builds knowledge and practice over time, enabling delegates to embed their learning and apply it confidently within their day-to-day role. Each module builds on the last, creating a coherent development pathway that supports both new and experienced ISVAs to strengthen their professional capability.
The programme has recently undergone a comprehensive review and refresh to ensure it reflects the Statutory Guidance for Independent Sexual Violence Advisers, national policy developments and current best practice. Drawing on more than 15 years of experience developing the ISVA workforce, we have enhanced every aspect of the programme to ensure delegates are equipped with the knowledge, practical skills and professional judgement needed to meet the evolving demands of the role. This commitment to continuous improvement ensures the programme remains at the forefront of ISVA professional development and continues to set the benchmark for quality, relevance and excellence across the sector.
Delivered entirely online, the programme has been designed around the realities of frontline practice. Recognising the demands of the ISVA role, delegates are not required to complete additional coursework outside the live modules. Instead, all learning and assessment are fully integrated into the programme, allowing delegates to focus on their professional development without adding unnecessary workload pressures.
Each module is delivered over two consecutive days and covers an extensive, practice-focused syllabus that equips delegates with the knowledge, practical skills and professional confidence to apply their learning in real-world settings. The modular structure minimises time away from services while providing the depth, reflection and practical application needed to support meaningful professional development. The full programme is typically completed over six months, giving delegates time to consolidate their learning between modules and embed it in practice.
Assessment is fully integrated throughout the programme. Using a combination of practical skills-based and knowledge-based assessment activities completed during the live modules, delegates demonstrate their competence as they progress. This integrated approach removes the need for additional assignments outside the programme while ensuring learning is applied, evidenced and assessed within a structured and supportive environment.
