About the training

The Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999 (YJCEA) introduced a range of Special Measures to help vulnerable and intimidated witnesses give their best evidence. These measures are designed to reduce emotional and psychological impact, enabling witnesses to participate more effectively in the justice process.

For Independent Sexual Violence Advisers (ISVAs), understanding special measures is crucial. This knowledge empowers ISVAs to provide clear, accurate information to clients so they can make informed decisions about how they give their evidence.
