“The training our school staff received from Lime Culture has transformed how we support all of the young people involved in child on child abuse allegations. The SMLO model ensures that young people can be supported effectively by trusted adults who are trauma informed, whilst safeguarding decisions and risk assessment can be handled by the DSLs. By separating the function of support and safeguarding, these clear boundaries protect the wellbeing of everyone involved in the case, including the DSL.
The language of ‘reported’ and ‘reporting students’ has been transformative in the way we understand the experiences of the young people involved in sexual misconduct. Lime Culture training gave our pastoral team the confidence to offer students high quality, trauma-informed support so that they can continue to access their education and feel safe in school.
The whole school approach, which Lime Culture takes, included training our governors and raising awareness with staff, students and parents. As a result, we have developed a strong whole school culture where there is zero tolerance of child on child abuse and everyone has confidence in our system for reporting incidents.”
