About the training

Since developing the Sexual Violence Liaison Officer (SVLO) model in 2016, LimeCulture has trained hundreds of SVLOs to act as the trusted first point of contact within universities, providing specialist support to those affected by sexual violence and misconduct.

While the SVLO role is vital, it is equally important that those who are responsible for managing SVLO’s are confident in supporting them and their teams. Effective management and oversight ensures that SVLOs can deliver safe, trauma-informed, and professional support while also contributing to a wider institutional response to tackling sexual misconduct.

This two-day online workshop equips managers with the knowledge and skills needed to oversee SVLO practice, manage caseloads, and safeguard staff wellbeing, ensuring high-quality, consistent provision of support across their university or students’ union.

Course content includes:

  • The role, function and governance of SVLO services
  • Sexual violence terminology, impact and trauma-informed support
  • Managing disclosures
  • Risk and referrals
  • Safeguarding, confidentiality and information governance
  • Effective communication and feedback
  • Caseload management
  • Recognising and responding to vicarious trauma

Learning is delivered through interactive case studies, encouraging practical application of knowledge and peer discussion.

Course Suitability

This workshop is suitable for university and Students’ Union staff who are the designated lead or manager for a single SVLO/SVMLO or a team of SVLOs/SVMLOs
